Welcome to the website for the Ladies of the Ottawa River!
We alternate between a 6-member and 4-member all-female competitive rafting team from the Ottawa Valley. Originally our members hail from all sides of the country but we have fallen in love with this region, known as the Whitewater Capital of Canada! And so it is! We are proud to represent it Nationally and Internationally!
We are now enjoying the “off” season, with some members of the team skiing and working their day jobs, and some still enjoying whitewater as they experience an eternal summer elsewhere in the world.
Having competed in the R4 Nationals last June on the Ottawa and Petawawa Rivers, we added to 2012’s R6 second place finish at the Rafting World Cup/Pan American Rafting Championships/Canadian National Championships at the end of September at Jonquière, Quebec. We will now represent Canada in Brazil at the 2014 World Championships! As soon as the snow melts we will start our on-water training for the R6 Canadian Championships, held this season on the Rouge River, Quebec. This will determine the team that will represent Canada at the next R6 World Championships. You will be able to find more information on this soon.
Our past results are posted, and as is always the case, we couldn’t have done as well as we did without the help and generous support of our sponsors (please take some time to check out their pages – they are cool people and businesses!). You can also find stories about our past adventures, including our trip to the Gauley River in West Virginia in 2012 where we placed first in the women’s category of the ‘Animal Race‘, as well as our blog of the R4 Canadian Championships last season.
We would love your support in any way possible! Like us on facebook, once again, please check out our amazing sponsors, learn more about our sport and get out and go rafting!
